FAQs

đź“– Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. Is your curriculum accredited?

Answer: Curriculum itself does not receive accreditation—only schools do. However, if you're enrolled in our Teacher Moderated program, the courses are taught by a credentialed educator, which may help with transcript validation. Always check with your local homeschool laws and umbrella schools for reporting requirements.

2. Is this curriculum aligned with state standards?

Answer: Our courses are designed to meet or exceed the content expectations of most U.S. high school standards. While we do not follow any state’s exact curriculum guide, we ensure coverage of foundational historical events, civics knowledge, and critical thinking skills needed for academic success.

3. Is this a religious or secular curriculum?

Answer: Liberty Heights Academy is a non-religious, values-based program. We do not include religious doctrine or theology in our materials. Our focus is on balanced, historically accurate instruction with a respect for American principles and a recognition of all people’s experiences.

4. How much time does it take each day?

Answer: Most students spend 45–60 minutes per day, five days per week. You can move faster or slower depending on your student’s needs. Our pacing guide is flexible and self-directed.

5. Can I use this curriculum for multiple students?

Answer: Each student requires their own course login to complete.  However, we do offer a 20% discount for siblings who are completing courses.  Email support@libertyheightsacademy.com to request the discount code.

6. How are assignments and tests handled?

Answer:

  • In Parent Moderated courses, you grade and oversee assignments using our provided rubrics and keys.

  • In Teacher Moderated courses, your student submits work via Google Drive, and a credentialed teacher handles grading, written feedback, and exam proctoring.

7. Are there video lessons or just reading?

Answer: Our courses are multimedia-based and include a mix of:

  • Readings from primary and secondary sources

  • Guided notes and worksheets

  • Recommended videos/documentaries

  • Choice projects and discussion prompts

We believe in engaging different learning styles while focusing on historical content

8. Can I track my student’s progress?

Answer: Yes! Each course includes parent access for parents to log-in and monitor student progress.

9. What happens if my student falls behind?

Answer: No problem. Our courses are self-paced, and there are no strict deadlines unless you're following a state or umbrella school schedule. We encourage mastery over speed.

10. Can I request IEP accommodations for learning differences?

Answer: Absolutely. Our Teacher Moderated program allows for accommodations, including adjusted workloads, extended deadlines, and modified assessments. We work with parents to create a plan that supports your student.  While we are not required by law to meet IEP accommodations, our teachers are credentialed in Special Education and will work to make sure our courses best support individual needs so each student can be successful.

11. Are there any tangible or printable products for this course?

Answer: Our course is 100% online and provided through the Canvas platform.  However, if students prefer to print out worksheets and submit a scan of a hand-completed assignment, that is available.

12. What platform does your course use?

Answer: Our course uses the Canvas program.  There is no additional fee for using this platform.
