About Us

Founded by an Award-Winning History Teacher

Liberty Heights Academy was created by an experienced, award-winning history teacher, Nicole Loumeau Stewart, with credentials in both Social Science and Education Specialist instruction. With a passion for American history and a deep understanding of effective teaching practices, Nicole designed Liberty Heights Academy to provide students with a balanced and foundational understanding of what makes the United States so amazing. Nicole has experience teaching History and Government courses in both college preparatory and learning supported (to students with IEPs) settings.  She specifically designed each of her courses to have built in accommodations to allow for students of all backgrounds to succeed.

Our Mission

In recent years, many high school social science curricula have shifted their focus almost entirely to the history of oppressed peoples. While we believe that studying these stories is important and valuable, we also believe that this should not come at the expense of teaching the foundational events, figures, and principles that shaped our nation. At Liberty Heights Academy, we are committed to restoring historical balance in education—ensuring students leave high school with a strong understanding of key events such the founding documents, and the broader development of American society.

Our curriculum is built on non-biased educational values, designed to inform—not persuade—so that students can develop critical thinking skils to form their own informed perspectives.

A Parent-Centered Approach

At Liberty Heights Academy, we believe parents know their students best. That’s why we offer flexible course options that allow families to choose the level of involvement that works for them:

  • Parent Moderated Courses: Parents or another approved adult are provided with all necessary tools to review work, provide feedback, grade assignments, and oversee exams. This option gives families maximum control and flexibility in their student’s education.

  • Teacher Moderated Courses: Students and parents are supported by a credentialed teacher who handles grading, feedback, communication, and exam proctoring. The teacher is also available to collaborate with parents to provide accommodations or support as needed to help students succeed.

Why Liberty Heights Academy?

We believe that a well-rounded education includes an honest, complete view of our nation's history—its struggles, its triumphs, and its foundational values. By equipping students with historical literacy, critical thinking skills, and respect for diverse perspectives, we prepare them for a thoughtful, informed future.

Join us in building a generation of students who understand where we’ve come from—and why it matters.
